Rambo

Woof from Rambo….

Mom and I are sitting here tonight remembering all the fun times we have had as I wait for my Surgery day tomorrow.

Our adventure started in 2005 when I was roaming without a home.  My pawmom bought her house and I was hanging around.  She decided to keep me and at about 4 mos of age I found a new home.  The next few months were uneventful until around 8 mos of age I started to limp on my right leg.  We went to visit our vet and after x-rays he said my growth plate had close and my leg needed to be amputated because it would not grow and I would have pain with limping.  My pawmom wasn’t happy with that answer so she took me to the Veterinary Hospital in Colombus, Ohio to see what their opinion was.  That was a hard day, I stayed at the hospital to have surgery and have my leg lengthened.  After 21 days of my leg being lengthened and a plate being placed I fianally got to come home.

A few months of recovering and I was good a new.  That was 11 years ago….

About 1-1/2 years ago I started having issues with my left leg.  We have tried multiple treatment avenues and seen specialists but still the pain, limping and deformity persists.  Since that time we have been trying to manage the pain from my leg deformity and extreme osteoarthritis until the decision was made to amputate my leg.  My pawmom is really sad but she doesn’t want me to be in pain that we haven’t been able to keep under control.  I have been spending close time with her trying to tell her she is doing the right thing.

Like other families on this site, this is the common denominator that brings us together.  My pawmom is spending lots of time reading about other Tripawds and what to expect when I come home while learning how to cope mentally, physically and emotionally.
